Our Journey

This part-time, permanent (ongoing) role brings together the Centre for Developmental Disability Health (CDDH https://cddh.monashhealth.org/) and Allied Health Workforce, Innovation, Strategy, Education, Research (WISER) Unit to provide a supportive environment in which you can shine. The CDDH is a dedicated, statewide, multidisciplinary team who provide education, clinical support, research and advocacy to improve the health of people with disabilities. The WISER Unit drives an effective and sustainable allied health workforce through innovation, strategy, education and research, exploring and advancing opportunities to improve patient care. Together, we aim to use research to build a better understanding of the health and healthcare needs of people with disability. We invest in and undertake innovative research to build evidence-based practice and novel program delivery approaches in healthcare for people with disability.

A Day in the Life

This unique role comes at an exciting time to be an integral member of both the CDDH and the WISER Unit at Monash Health. Working with the leadership team, you will provide strategic input to design a progressive research agenda which, through the Monash Health Disability Strategy and Action Plan, articulates our commitment to the systemic reforms of the Victorian State Disability, including co-design with people with disability, Aboriginal self-determination and intersectional approaches in disability health research. As the Disability Health Research Lead, you will be responsible for using research to foster clinical excellence in healthcare for people with disabilities.

As a researcher embedded within healthcare, you will have a direct link to clinical practice to enable meaningful and rapid implementation of your research findings. A recognised research leader, skilled in building research culture and capability in others, you will actively strengthen and extend relationships with research collaborators both within and beyond Monash Health. You will identify suitable grant opportunities, lead and encourage a collaborative inter-professional research approach, and embed inclusive research principles in the planning, design, conduct, reporting and communication of all CDDH research. You will be an integral part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team of researchers and clinicians committed to providing inclusive, accessible and respectful healthcare to people with a disability.

About You

Your success in this role will see you bring your:

  • Demonstrated expertise and leadership in health and/or disability focused research
  • Ability to strategically plan, undertake and evaluate inclusive research
  • Knowledge of current trends in healthcare and disability
  • Time management working across projects and activities ensuring financial management and accountability
  • Experience in teaching, training, education, and change management
  • High level communication skills, both verbal and written

What you need

  • PhD level qualification (or working towards) in disability and/or health
  • Undergraduate qualification relevant to health and/or disability (including but not limited to allied health, disability, psychology, nursing, and social sciences)
