About CDDH

The Centre for Developmental Disability Health (CDDH) is a multidisciplinary team who work across a range of education, clinical, research and advocacy activities to improve the health of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

CDDH is a state-wide service, and the only service in Victoria that focuses on providing medical care for adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. Our experienced Developmental Disability Medical Specialists provide detailed assessments and reviews of people referred to CDDH by the community and by inpatient services to address medical, psychiatric and social issues. We also lead the innovation and delivery of services that support our patients to access necessary healthcare.

The Centre provides education and training to health and disability practitioners, as well as undergraduate students, to enable the development of positive attitudes and a sound knowledge base in relation to the health issues of people with developmental disabilities.

The Centre contributes to the development of policy and practice in relation to the healthcare of adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through a range of activities including dialogue with policy makers, comment on discussion papers and submissions to commissions and enquiries.

The Centre also has a research arm dedicated to developing the understanding of the needs of people with a developmental and/or intellectual disability.
