Molonglo Support Services in Queanbeyan has been responding to people experiencing difficulties due to homelessness and domestic and family violence for over 40 years. We area not-for-profit company and charity with a vision for everyone living in a secure and safe environment. We are situated 20 minutes drive from Canberra CBD.
The role
Molonglo is searching for a Tenancy Manager, with experience in the social or community housing sector to join our team part-time (30 hours per week).
You will be managing our small tenancy portfolio in Queanbeyan to ensure a positive tenant experience and connection with their community. You will be organised and good at problem-solving addressing day to day tenancy matters providing administrative and case work functions that assist our clients to maintain their tenancies. You will provide some case management and training will be provided for the right person.
A typical week:
- Provide client-focused tenancy management services including some case management to people who are experiencing social disadvantage using a strengths-based approach.
- Manage tenancy and maintenance issues whilst operating under the NSW Residential Tenancies Act.
- Manage tenancy exits, tenancy sign up, rent collection and management of vacated arrears, rent reviews, maintenance & asset management functions including undertaking routine property inspections.
Experience:
Desirable:
- A Tertiary Qualification in Community or Social Work or similar discipline;
- or a strong background (minimum 2 years) in property management, public/community housing, or case management with direct and applicable work experience.
- Ability to work with vulnerable people using a strengths-based approach.
- Case Management experience is desirable but not essential.
Essential:
- Drivers Licence
- Completion of or current NSW Working with Children Check
- National Police Check
- As a community housing provider and SHS provider, Molonglo Support Services regularly engages with and provides face to face services to customers in the community, and these roles require full COVID-19 vaccination status.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of drive, initiative, motivation and outcome orientation, with the capacity to deal with multiple and often conflicting priorities

- Experience working in partnership with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Providing information, advice and correspondence to renters as required, and as is appropriate.
- Provide timely reports as requested by line manager and as required, assist in the collation of data and documents for annual compliance reporting.
- Experience or knowledge dealing with people that have experienced long-term homelessness.
- Some understanding of (or ability to follow) the NSW Residential Tenancies Act
- Well-developed computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office programs particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams and ability to adapt and learn internal IT systems
- An awareness, understanding, and sensitivity to homelessness issues and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people from various cultures.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
