Casual & Permanent Disability Day Program Positions Available

An exciting opportunity exists for an energetic and experienced person to be part of the Eastern Sydney or Northwest team at Inala. We seek creative and enthusiastic people to become part of a team that develops and implements Day and Community supports, programs and activities for our clients including scheduled transport runs to and from our day services to support our clients to attend their day programs. Other flexible morning/afternoon support shifts may also be available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance that ensures the physical, emotional, psychological and social wellbeing of our clients.
  • Collaborative developing and facilitating of individual, and group based recreational, artistic, living skills and community access programs and activities for people with disabilities.
  • Supporting clients to and from their day programs via a system of scheduled transport runs using wheelchair accessible vehicles.
  • Provide support that is person centred and enables each client to express choice and control in the types of support and activities offered.
  • Be sensitive and understanding to the specific needs of each client paying attention to the cultural needs and preferences of each client.
  • Maintaining individual daily notes for client activities, overall support required within their home and out in the community as well as their general over all well-being.
  • Maintaining all modes of reporting and documentation in line with Inala's reporting processes as part of the support needs of our clients.
  • Positive communication and interaction with clients, families, staff and other stakeholders.

Essential criteria 

  • Certificate III or higher in Disability/Community Services or equivalent
  • Experience in a similar role in the disability sector
  • Commitment to the human-centered Ethos and approaches of Inala
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Fully vaccinated against COIVD-19 (3 doses)
  • Current driver’s license
  • Current first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • NDISWC (or willingness to obtain)
  • Completion of the NDIS Online Workers Module
  • Ability to work with participants with complex behaviour issues and is able to follow behaviour plans

Desirable Criteria 

  • Experience in direct support assistance for persons with disabilities
  • Ability and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life of persons with disabilities
  • Familiarity with Steiner based Ethos and approaches
  • Skills and experience in individual planning and review
  • Experience with PEG feeding, hoisting and complex needs support
  • Familiarity with CIMSability (Client Management System) or similar
  • Experience in providing positive behavioural support approaches
  • Has interest in visual arts and/or musically inclined

Other information 

Hours: Casual / On-Call / Permanent Positions available

General service operation Monday – Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm 

Transport and Flexible supports within the hours of 7am to 5pm

  • 3 Permanent Positions: 5 days - 34 hours per week- 8.45am-3.15pm, 4.45pm Wednesdays
  • 1 Permanent Position: 4 days - 26 hours per week- 8.45am-3.15pm, (Tuesday and Friday)
  • 1 Permanent Position: 2 days - 13 hours per week- 8.45am-3.15pm, (Monday and Wednesday)
  • Casual position:  8.45am - 3.15pm 

Location: 

  • Inala North Western suburbs - Cherrybrook, Castle Hill
  • Inala Eastern Suburbs – Vaucluse and Watsons Bay

Reports to: Service Coordinator

Commencement: immediate start available

Remuneration: Inala Award Commensurate experience and proven ability

We are a community supporting over 200 people in Day and Community supports and Accommodation in Sydney’s North West and Eastern Suburbs.
