About the role

Mind operate Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short-Term Accommodation services for people with severe and enduring psychosocial disability, these residences are staffed 24/7 and funded through residents’ NDIS packages. Guided by Mind’s model of recovery oriented practice and the Dual Disability Framework, services operate in collaboration with the local community with the focus on supporting people to achieve their life goals.

We are seeking an experienced, resilient Community Mental Health Practitioner - Team Leader for a fulltime, 12 month fixed term opportunity (with a possibility of permanency) in the Chadstone area. Guiding and managing a dedicated, cohesive team you will act as the practice lead to ensure delivery of quality recovery oriented services to our complex care residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor and lead effective practice to staff working with clients, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
• Support clients by delivering high quality service and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
• Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to client recovery goals.
• Undertake administrative tasks including rostering, leave coverage, facilitating handovers and planning budget expenditure.

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
• Proven experience working with people with mental health issues, complex needs, and the ability to interact with families and carers.
• Capability to effectively lead and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes and provide professional supervision.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and capacity to build strong relationships with agencies, clinical providers and key stakeholders.
