Micah Australia is a coalition of Christian aid agencies that advocates and lobbies the Australian Government on issues affecting the poor and marginalised in developing nations by informing, educating and mobilising local churches as well as the general public. Micah Australia developed out Micah Challenge and has been working on a range of issues since the change to Micah Australia in 2015.
Micah Australia is looking for a person to join the Board of Directors as Company Secretary. This is a voluntary role that would involve attending approximately five to six meetings per year along with maintaining the Company records as well as liaising with the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission (ACNC). These meetings are held on a weekday in either Sydney or Melbourne.
You don't have to have experience as a Company Secretary but a demonstrated ability on collating agendas and recording minutes from committee meetings would be well regarded. It provides the opportunity to serve on a not-for-profit Board and gain an understanding of governance and compliance in the NGO sector. Additional information on the role can be found in the attached job description.
As indicated, meetings are held on workdays and the commitment would be unpaid. However, expenses for any travel or incidentals in fulfilling the role would be reimbursed.
A full Position Description is attached below.
