We seek a skilled individual to work on a casual basis as part of our Aboriginal Programs Team to provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families at Werribee Mercy Hospital (WMH).

Summary of the role:
This is a casual Aboriginal Hospital Liaison(AHLO) role supporting the Aboriginal Programs team.
- As part of a multi-diciplinary team, providing support to promote culturally sensitive health care and wellbeing to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families.
- The AHLO provides face to face, on-site assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families attending all treatment services at Werribee Mercy as required.
- Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply as this position is exempt under the Special Measures Provision of s12(1) of the Equal Opportunity Act (Vic).
ABOUT YOU:
Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to the Victorian Aboriginal community, culture, values and health needs
- High level skills in the provision of support and advocacy to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Well-developed communication skills and a demonstrated capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to assist in the development of strategies and guidelines for programs that could improve access to mainstream services by the Aboriginal community.
- You are a dedicated and motivated individual
Desirable:
- Qualifications in Aboriginal health care, health worker or similar
