Marymead is a well-respected, community based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya and Canberra. Marymead is seeking to fill the position as outlined below.

Role Description

This is a part-time 12 month contract working 25 hours per week as a lead disability support worker for Ricky Stuart House and will involve direct contact with clients. The position involves leading, supporting and mentoring a team of disability support workers. Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Respond to enquiries and referrals from service users, their families and other service providers; assist with quotes for service; prepare Service Agreements, conduct or arrange for assessments of potential clients, manage entry and exit procedures;
  • Implement overall program plans and strategies as instructed;
  • Oversee the development of an activity schedule and related resources including weekly excursions and outings;
  • Work with and support clients in accordance with the National Disability Standards, program’s policies and procedures, and clients’ individual management plans;
  • Provide guidance to staff in supporting clients in accordance with organisational standards, the National Disability Standards, program policies and procedures, and client individual goals Engage with clients in short-term accommodation/respite care and support their inclusion in daily routines and decision-making including:
  • Implement strategies to develop skills and enhance independence;
  • Provide guidance to support workers to implement individual support plans as required;
  • Review daily shift reports and serious incident reports;
  • Attend to the daily needs of young people in respite care

To be successful for this position you will require:

Essential

  • Certificate III or higher in a relevant field;
  • Senior First Aid Certificate; (at own expense);
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience;
  • ACT Working With Vulnerable People Card
  • NSW Working with Children Check
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence.
