Magenta Community Services is an NDIS success story that started in 2013 with the mission of providing truly person-centred and flexible support services for people with disabilities. We currently looking for experienced, positive, adaptive and energetic Support Workers to work with NDIS participants across a range of disabilities within Toowoomba area. You should be willing to work a range of short and long shifts and some with sleepovers.

About the Role:

• To support people living in their own homes, ensuring that they have maximum opportunity for developing valued and valuing lifestyles
• Provide opportunities for choice and control and participation in matters relating to the home as well as facilitating access to community services and facilities
• To provide support as required for all household management; and activities of daily living based on Participants individual needs
• Facilitate community inclusion and participation to establish and maintain relationship and interests through access to community activities, venues and services
• Carry out and promote positive routines /duties/activities in a cooperative respectful and flexible manner, which are meaningful and purposeful to the participant

Duties may include all aspects of personal care including:

• Showering assistance
• Dressing assistance and hygiene needs
• Medication assistance
• Catheter Care
• Manual Handling (incl. hoist)

Other responsibilities may include:

• Domestic support and household tasks
• Assistance with meal preparation
• Support with assistive technology
• Support to attend appointments and grocery shopping
• Follow and adhere to Positive Behaviour Support Plans for individuals
• Work as part of a team and be committed to participate in team meetings

Mandatory Requirements include:

• Current First Aid Certificate / Current CPR (annual) or ability to rapidly obtain
• Qld Blue Card / Qld Yellow Card
• Current Australian Driver’s License
• Own vehicle with car insurance
• NDIS Online Module - Free and Easy to obtain

Preferred but not essential;

• Manual handling training
• Administration of medication training
• Industry experience of 1 year or greater will be highly regarded
• Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent
• Experience working with challenging behaviours
• Experience working with participants who require manual handling
