Description

Most of the job involves basic administrative work. We need a person who is organised and able to ensure that deadlines are met. The position includes reception duties, as well as support for campaign staff. It also involves basic website content management, fundraising support, communications and membership management. The successful applicant will be supervised by the Mackay Conservation Group Coordinator.

Key responsibilities and duties

Administrative:

The tasks involved are:

  • Providing logistical support for management committee meetings
  • Organising the annual general meeting and managing production of the annual report
  • Organising the annual financial audit
  • Annual returns to relevant government agencies
  • Reviewing insurance policies
  • Drafting annual budgets (twice yearly)
  • Applying for and acquitting grants (up to four per year)
  • Administrative support for fundraising
  • Ensuring the group meets workplace requirements such as wages & conditions of employment
  • Setting up and maintaining registers of delegations, procedures and policies
  • Membership management
  • Staff onboarding and resignation
  • Assisting with recruitment (placing advertisements, managing applications, etc)
  • Identifying and organising building maintenance as needed
  • Managing Environment Centre bookings
  • Maintaining a register of resources
  • Replenishing supplies (cleaning, stationery, etc)
  • Assisting with cyber security (eg ensuring frequent password updates occur)

Public outreach:

The Environment Centre Administrator’s role is to ensure that we maintain contact with the public both face-to-face and electronically. We need a person who enjoys meeting people and has well developed oral and written communication skills.

Campaign support:

Occasionally the Administrator may be asked to assist campaign staff with tasks such as:

  • Helping with research as required
  • Developing materials to assist the public to respond to environmental issues

Work hours and remuneration

Hours:

30 hours per fortnight (approximately 0.4 FTE). Work hours can be negotiated.

Salary:

Wages will be calculated according to the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award2010 — Social and community services employee Level 4 Paypoint 3. The rate of pay at this level is currently $43.70 per hour ($1311 per fortnight). Superannuation will be paid according to the Superannuation Guarantee, currently 11% of ordinary time earnings.
