About the role

Our Springfield Apartments are the first development project led by our Project Dignity 120 initiative which aims to build 120 high needs apartment for people living with a progressive neurological disease across Queensland. Our Project Dignity 120 initiative is addressing the disability housing crisis facing Queensland and you can be a part of this change.

The Springfield Apartments are due to commence operation in May 2018. The site will be home for up to 18 people living in individual units who require varying degrees of support to live their lives as independently as possible.

We are looking for a number of Support Workers (fulltime, part-time and casual) to join our team at Springfield and be part of this exciting initiative. As a member of our accommodation support services team, you will be providing individualised support to our customers in their day-to-day life.  This includes providing personal care and grooming; assistance with meals; assisting them with access to the community; supporting them with exercise therapy, medication and various domestic activities. The goal is to ensure our customers are supported to live with dignity and as independently as possible.

We are looking for passionate and dedicated Support Workers who can demonstrate MS Queensland’s values in their approach to assisting people living with MS and other progressive neurological diseases to get the best out of life. If you possess the following skills and experience and want to make a difference as part of this ground-breaking project, we would love to hear from you. 

  • Ability to work effectively, compassionately and independently with customers in their home and in the community.   
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound computer skills that will enable comprehensive report writing for each customer.
  • Level of physical capacity commensurate with the responsibilities and requirements of the position.
  • Ability to understand and abide by the MS Queensland’s Code of Conduct and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prescribe to MS Queensland’s mission, goals and organisational values.
  • Positive Notice: satisfactory completion of DSQ Criminal History Check.
