Melbourne Primary Care Network (MPCN) located in Parkville, is an independent, locally governed and run, not for profit organisation dedicated to improving primary healthcare in local communities.
The North Western Melbourne PHN catchment covers approximately 3,200 km2 across the north western region of Melbourne and includes, but is not limited to, Bacchus Marsh, Craigieburn, Gisborne, Little River, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Preston, Sunbury and Werribee. By population reach, we are Victoria’s largest PHN. A core remit of the organisation is to improve health outcomes for communities by fostering innovation, leveraging and coordinating existing community and organisational assets, and driving value for money.
About these roles

Reporting to the Manager, CAREinMind Mental Health Services, the CIM Intake and Assessment Clinician will play a key role in;
- Supporting the clinical assessment, intake and triage of mental health treatment activity.
- Providing clinical support to CAREinMIND staff and contractual providers regarding mental health treatment activity, including ATAPS like services.
- Contributing to the development and review of performance targets of mental health treatment activity.
- Contributing to promoting and representing CARinMIND services to relevant stakeholders and forums/events as appropriate.
- Participating, reviewing and extending CAREinMIND services and for planning, quality and service development purposes.
Specifically this position aims to:
- Establish and maintain beneficial working relationships with external providers and stakeholders.
- Participate in knowledge management activities, particularly identification, acquisition, sharing and preserving knowledge.
- Develop, monitor and review operational risk management processes, implement and/or provide recommendations for continuous improvements.
- Prepare a range of program related documents for key stakeholders as required, including referral updates, and reports.
Qualifications Required
- Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing and
- Minimum 3 years experience providing counselling services in the ATAPS program or equivalent.
Key Selection Criteria
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders and service provision across the spectrum of providers.
- Knowledge and understanding of the provision of contemporary mental health treatment for consumers and families.
- A sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management principles and operational frameworks.
- Understanding of primary health service system and contemporary health policy issues in primary care.
- Experience in effective stakeholder engagement and relationship development with the mental health community.
- Well-developed understanding and empathy with drivers of clinical priorities and works effectively with clinicians to develop partnerships working and two way communication/ engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in project management: ability to priorities actions, negotiate successful outcomes, and effect changes in direction including engineering of changes in the supply chain.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, able to work proactively on projects with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- High level organisational and workload management skills, self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve organisational and program specific goals.
