Communication and Engagement Manager - MND Connect

MND Australia is the national peak body of state organisations that support people living with and impacted by motor neurone disease (MND). Since 1993, we have been the voice for the MND community. We work collaboratively with our member organisations, the state MND Associations, to inform, influence and raise awareness and understanding of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) at a national level to improve care and to advance research to ultimately end MND.

Our Mission is to improve the lives of everyone impacted by MND through advancing research, advocacy and high-quality care.

About the role

MND Connect provides specialist MND information via a national MND Info Line and the MND Connect website. The MND Connect website was launched mid-2021 and hosts a wide range of accessible resources and service information for people living with MND, carers and family, as well as the professionals who support them. The project, now in its fifth year, will continue to build on, and further develop the website, information resources and the national MND Info Line.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborative development of consumer facing health information resources, responding to the needs of the community
  2. Program planning, implementation of improvements, evaluation and reporting
  3. Project management and engaging with key stakeholders
  4. Funding contract reporting

About you

  1. High-level written, editing and proofing skills with special skills in health communication or other science communication for the public. Multimedia experience and/or web page editing experience
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, stakeholders, community and healthcare professionals
  3. Proficiency in project coordination, management and reporting. Self-motivated, strong problem solving and multitasking abilities
  4. Relevant tertiary qualifications such as information/project management, digital communications, health or education related disciplines
  5. A background working with individuals with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), or other health conditions or experience working in a health-related contact centre.

Position Type

This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) contract position until 30 August 2026, with the opportunity for extension. The successful candidate will be ideally based in Canberra. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer this role works within the MND Australia team.
