CWCS provides a safe space for children from families experiencing conflict to spend time with the parent they are not currently living with. The service also provides a safe place for children to go from one parent to another parent (changeover) while providing safety to both parents and children.
The service operates Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am to 5pm, Fridays 9am to 7.30pm and Saturdays.
The service operates in a context of significant family conflict and high emotions. Staff need to be calm and impartial.
Purpose of the Position
The Part time Supervisor provides supervision during contact and changeover visits for clients of Central West Contact Service.

Hours: Permanent part-time, Friday evening -4:30 pm - 7:30 pm and Saturday - 9:00 am -5:30 pm
Location: Parramatta
Remuneration: SCHADS Award, pay level 3
Position Accountability: This position is supervised by the Coordinator of CWCS.

Duty Statement
1. Client support
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy and procedure relating to child protection issues
- Treat all clients with impartiality and respect all cultural and linguistic differences
- Be aware of and operate within confidentiality requirements
2. Supervision
- Supervision of contact and changeover visits between parents and their children
- Prepare for supervision by familiarisation with family file before visit
- Facilitate changeovers/change backs
- Observe family interactions
- Guide and assist communication and family interactions as required
- Ensure necessary information is passed between parents via the communication book
- Write a detailed report of the interaction between parent and child at the end of each session for the Client file
- Ensure reporting of child protection issues such as risk of harm to Coordinator or Senior Supervisor
- Notify the Coordinator or Senior Supervisor of any issues arising from the visit that require attention, particularly any inappropriate behaviour by clients
3. Teamwork
- Debrief with senior staff
- Undertake supervision with external Clinical Supervisor in relation to developing strategies for handling clients of the Service
- Attend CWCS staff meetings
- Participate with other staff and adopt a cooperative team approach in the day to day running of CWCS
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CWCS procedures
4. General duties
- Adopt and promote the vision, mission and values of WSCLC
- Attend staff meetings, where required
- Identify and participate in training, where necessary to assist and improve service delivery
- Abide by all WSCLC Policies
Selection Criteria
Qualifications
- Qualifications is Social Services – Degree in Social Work or equivalent
- Final year students are encouraged to apply and would be considered
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience in working with families in high conflict
- Understanding of child development and issues
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate in an authoritative manner when required
- Demonstrated ability to self manage emotions in difficult circumstances
- Experience in writing observational notes in a concise, neutral and accurate manner
- Experience working with and an understanding of the needs of people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal People and /or Torres Strait Islanders, people with disabilities or other people who may face disadvantages in accessing services
