The role is a Maximum Term contract until June 30th 2022 (subject to funding possibility of extension) - SCHDS Level 4 – 0.6 – 1.0 FTE.

Under the general direction of a Team Leader or delegate, the Lived Experience Peer Worker will draw on their lived experience of recovery from mental illness, to inform the provision of quality service delivery. Peer Workers will promote recovery and inspire hope in the journey of recovery, with the aim of increasing clients’ wellbeing and their understanding of managing mental illness.

About You

The successful applicant will have:

  • A tertiary qualification relevant to the health or mental health sector, and/or extensive experience in the community services sector.
  • Sound knowledge and awareness of mental illness (ideally psychosocial disability) and related comorbidities and the associated impact on individuals, carers and the community
  • Experience or understanding of community development principles including community capacity building and partnerships
  • Smartphone with internet capabilities
  • Current SA Drivers Licence and willingness to use own vehicle
  • DHS Working with Children check, NDIS Worker Check and First Aid
