We have an exciting 6-month full-time job opening for a Senior Social Worker at the Mater Hospital- North Sydney.
The position holds scope for potential contract extension beyond 6 months in varying roles.
About You
The successful candidate will provide a social work service at an advanced level of clinical practice to inpatients and their carers of the Mater Hospital in the designated clinical areas. This is by way of:
- Participating as a member of multidisciplinary teams.
- Carrying out the responsibilities of the position in a manner consistent with the philosophy, values and mission of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
- Ensuring a high level of social work practice is maintained consistent with professional standards as defined by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Committing to ongoing professional development and teaching through research, education and social work students.
- Participating in strategic planning and quality improvement activities.
- Participating in meetings of AASW Special Interest Groups and other groups of relevance to the delivery of a high quality Social Work Service to patients at the Mater.
Essential requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Social Work
- Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Demonstrated experience/expertise in acute hospital care
- Post-graduate private or public hospital experience at least five years
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the core values of The Mater
- Evidence of advanced clinical skills and demonstrated significant experience in provision of Social Work in an acute and subacute setting
- Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding workload and prioritise where necessary
- Evidence of the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of level1/2 staff and students
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
- Previous experience in clinical service development and evaluation
- Demonstrated experience and competency in developing and leading Quality improvement activities
- Computer literacy
- Commitment to quality improvement
- Ability to be flexible and dynamic with work hours
Desirable requirements
- Previous experience in a private hospital
- Extensive experience in counselling of patients and their carers in palliative care
