Mount Eliza Neighbourhood House is situated in the grounds of the community hub, which includes the community Hall, Bowling Club and 55 Plus Club. Serving the community since 1979, our Neighbourhood House offers opportunities through formal/ informal avenues for community participation at a local level. It provides a place which brings people together, through classes, meetings, social or community events.

The Role

This is an ongoing part time position 26 hours per week. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHCADS) Award 2010

The Manager is responsible for the day to day management and financial supervision of Mount Eliza Neighbourhood House Inc. and to oversee the development and delivery of programs and activities that meet the educational, vocational and recreational needs of the local community. 

The position will develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally with the Committee of Management, staff, tutors and volunteers and also within the broader community. This will include representing Mount Eliza Neighbourhood House within the service sector, working cooperatively with Local, State & Federal Government departments and active participation in relevant networks.

Qualification & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in public sector management, community development, social science or related field
  • Minimum of 3 yrs. experience working in a management or leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience in staff management and providing strategic leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound financial management within an organisation
  • Highly developed written and oral communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience in developing effective networks and partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge and ability to use word processing systems and software packages, e.g. Microsoft Office
