Multicultural Australia emerged from a community-based social movement to advance multiculturalism and build communities where everyone belongs.

Since 1998, we have welcomed tens of thousands of individuals from refugee, asylum seeker, international student and migrant backgrounds – with the goal of creating a more equitable and prosperous society.

Today, we are a multicultural for-purpose organisation and settlement provider with a strong and connected physical presence across metropolitan and regional Queensland.

About the role

Multicultural Australia is currently offering an opportunity for a Project Coordinator to work as part of our Employment team. The role is (0.6FTE) part-time, maximum term till 31st August 2024 and based in Brisbane with travel to greater Brisbane and Logan area as required.

The purpose of the Project Coordinator role is to coordinate and support the Enabling an Inclusive Aged Care Workforce project and deliver related outcomes, supporting the Health and Community Services Sector to attract, develop and retain skilled staff.

Among other duties, the successful candidate will:

• Coordinate the delivery of the Enabling an Inclusive Aged Care Workforce project and in particular:
  • Facilitate consultation and co-design with multicultural communities and stakeholders
  • Screening and shortlisting of candidates for the project
  • Support delivery of workshops and training sessions
  • Coordinate a mentoring type program incorporated in the project
  • Facilitate reflections and learnings of the program
  • Support networking sessions
• Coordinate the creation and ongoing engagement of a Project Reference Group to inform the project
• Facilitate CALD community participation and engagement with the project
• Coordinate consultation and roundtable discussions with diverse communities and aged care industry
• Facilitate co-design of cultural awareness training packages in collaboration with Training team
• Coordinate referral, intake, assessment, screening and shortlisting processes for candidates that will participate in the project 
• Meet and achieve organisational KPIs and work plans with the essential focus on a Results Based Accountability framework
• Undertake written work including preparation of reports for the project
• Manage and educate stakeholders (internal, external and partnership relationships) and coordinate networking events
• The role will require travel and ability to work across different MA office locations: Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan Councils
• Work across a consortium of organisations to support outcomes for clients
• Apply skills and knowledge to identify where cross functional relationships (both internal and external) can be leveraged to provide broad client services
• Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of Employment team services and process, to deliver customer service effectively, efficiently and professionally
• Actively promote inclusive and meaningful activities for clients with multiple barriers to employment to effectively create opportunities to maximise social inclusion
• Assist in coordinating work placements including employer engagement, organisational profiling in order to match client needs, recruitment, placement support and post placement support
• Deliver client focused advocacy with community and government agencies
• Establish referral pathways for appropriate service options for clients In addition to the duties listed above all Multicultural Australia staff are expected to:
  • Carry out general administrative functions related to their role and to the effective and efficient functioning of Multicultural Australia as a whole.

What qualifications and skills do I need?

You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have effective communication and interpersonal skills.

As well as having a confident and positive personality, you will possess:

1. Possession of a tertiary qualification in Business/Management, Human Resources, Training, Community Services, Social Work or related discipline
2. Demonstrated ability in project management
3. Demonstrated experience in providing results-driven employment support to jobseekers, especially the ones with multiple barriers to employment
4. Proven ability to develop and lead both in-person and technology-based employment support programs and group activities
5. Outstanding cross-cultural communication skills and a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of issues in relation to the settlement and Australian employment experience of refugees and migrants
6. Demonstrated ability to work creatively and strategically through utilising high level stakeholder negotiation skills (internal and external) in seeking opportunities for clients and the organisation

Successful candidate will be required to have a valid driver’s license, police check and apply for a Working with Children Blue Card.
