About Little Scientists Australia
Little Scientists Australia is a not-for-profit professional development program for early childhood professionals, combining inquiry-based learning with age-appropriate STEM exploration (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). At Little Scientists, we believe that to discover the joy of STEM children need to be given the opportunity to explore the world in a nurturing and playful setting that boosts their natural eagerness to learn. We offer a series of professional development workshops that empower educators and teachers working with children from 3 to 6 years of age to explore STEM with confidence and joy.
The Role
In the role of workshop facilitator for Little Scientists Australia you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the early education of young children. You will be preparing, planning and conducting a variety of different Little Scientists workshops and you will be part of an energetic team of workshop facilitators across Australia.
Job Summary
- To represent and develop Little Scientists in all aspects of its professional development workshops;
- To independently plan, prepare and conduct Little Scientists professional development workshops;
- To plan, to prepare and to be actively involved in events and conferences;
- To proactively evaluate and ensure the high-quality standards and participants’ feedback in cooperation with the Training Manager as well as other workshop facilitators.
Prerequisites and Skills
- Degree relevant to this position
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in a role with similar responsibilities
- Recognised qualification in (early childhood) teaching, adult education or a recognised qualification in Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a field of Technology
- Highly motivated to establish and promote early inquiry-based STEM education using the approach developed by Little Scientists Australia
- Practical experience in adult education and training, preferably within the education sector
- Preferably practical experience in the field of early childhood education and insight into the activities of education and care services
- Preferably experience/knowledge of every day phenomena in the fields of Science, Mathematics and/or Technology
- Excellent English language skills
- Class C Driver’s License
