Link-Up (NSW) Aboriginal Corporation (Link-Up) assists all eligible Aboriginal people who have been directly affected by past government policies; being separated from their families and culture through forced removal; being fostered, adopted or raised in institutions.

Link-Up supports the healing journeys of those removed delivering professional, culturally sensitive and confidential research, reunions and Social, Emotional and Wellbeing services.

An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, passionate and adaptable Aboriginal Redress Caseworker to join our team on a Fixed Term basis.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Redress Caseworker will provide support to applicants in preparing and submitting their application to the Territories Stolen Generation Redress Scheme, which is being administered by the National Indigenous Australians Agency.
  • Assist applicants throughout the process by providing administrative and emotional support.
  • Act as a Redress Nominee when required, to assist the applicant when receiving communication from Scheme officers and relay information to the applicant as well as provide general support.
  • Prepare and maintain client files.
  • Maintain regular client contact.
  • Responsible for conducting community outreach activities and stakeholder engagement to promote and raise awareness of the Scheme.
  • You may be required to provide application assistance while on outreach trips, or from their regular office.
  • Work collaboratively with other service providers to enhance client outcomes.
  • As part of your role, you will be required to work with The Healing Foundation around training and support.
  • Gather data for regular reporting to the National Indigenous Australians Agency regarding the number and nature of the supports they have provided to the Scheme applicants plus provide ad hoc advice as required.
  • Use the National Foxtrot database to keep up to date client files.
  • Engage with Aboriginal, Torres Strait and non-indigenous communities and other service providers.
  • Plan and attend reunions along with Healing weekends within Australia.

Essential Criteria

  • Are you a dedicated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person passionate about making a difference and supporting our mob.
  • Must be able to work 35 hours per week.
  • Currently working 4 days per week in the office and one day from home.
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Counselling, Social Work, Youth Work or 3-5 years experience within Social Services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Stolen Generation and the impact of past Government policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of case management approaches to service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team including working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and database applications.
  • Ability to travel extensively within NSW and interstate as required.

Desirable Criteria

  • Willingness to obtain qualifications within 12 months as required.
  • Case Management experience.
  • Aboriginality is a genuine qualification and is authorised by Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
