About the Role

We are currently recruiting Youth Workers to join our Wollongong team on a casual basis. The Youth Worker roles involves providing high quality, flexible support with a focus on enhancing the lives of children and young people in the Out of Home Care program. You will be required to think creatively to plan and implement youth work programs for the children and young people you support. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within a team based environment to facilitate delivery of quality services to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people in a foster care setting.
  • You will contribute to the development and implementation of a range of individual, therapeutic, recreational or skills-development activities that are consistent with and supportive of the care plans developed for each child.
  • You will required to practice from a therapeutic/non-punitive framework.

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Youth Work, or similar or equivalent experience
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one and unrestricted drivers licence.
  • Commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong interpersonal skills, use of Microsoft Office packages.  
  • Willingness to work within the philosophy of the Life Without Barriers organisation. 

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
