About the role

We are seeking Female Only Youth Workers with extensive experience supporting challenging behaviours within a residential setting. Remuneration will reflect the level of support required as this is not an entry level support role.

It is critical that you enjoy working within a team environment and are able to communicate well with your peers to ensure the “team” is supporting our client to a high standard.

Please note: Our Youth Program runs a 24/7 roster model. You will be required to work sleepovers (night), weekend and public holiday shifts. Flexibility and reliability is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within a team based environment to facilitate delivery of quality services to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people in a foster care setting.
  • You will contribute to the development and implementation of a range of individual, therapeutic, recreational or skills-development activities that are consistent with and supportive of the care plans developed for each child.
  • You will required to practice from a therapeutic/non-punitive framework.  

Skills & Experience

  • Either hold and maintain; or be actively working towards a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or a recognised relevant qualification for the purposes of the Minimum Qualification Standard for residential care staff working in Queensland as required by the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women. If working towards a recognised relevant qualification, the qualification must be attained by no later than 30 June 2020
  • Hope and Healing Framework Foundations Training to be completed prior to commencing unsupervised, direct work with children and young people
  • Valid unrestricted Australian drivers licence
  • Valid Senior First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification
  • Demonstrated experience in providing a creative and flexible approach to people with individual needs
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Individual client care plan goals

Desirable

    • Previous TCI training/understanding
    • Knowledge of CARE framework
    • Understanding of trauma informed practices.  

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
