About the Service

Employment Mentoring Project provides support to build strong, resilient and cohesive communities. This will be achieved by integrating socially-isolated and economically disadvantaged CALD groups into the broader community through employment mentoring and support.

About the role

The Employment Mentor will be leading the intake, assessment, planning, referral and programmatic activities that provide a number of solutions and strategies to reduce stress and anxiety, build support networks, create a feeling of belonging and inclusion in community and improve confidence and self-esteem. The position will also help jobseekers by offering awareness into industry job markets, targeted job application strategies and workplace culture. Part time position, 4 days a week until June 2021.

Skills & Experience  

  • Degree qualification in Human Services or related discipline.
  • Previous experience working with people from CALD backgrounds.
  • Demonstration of a high level of personal ethics and principles while mentoring job seekers and employers.
  • Experience managing people and/or teams.
  • Effective people skills including leadership, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to handle challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of the Australian workplace and the issues which may face migrant and refugee youth in employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support individuals, families and/or groups from a strengths-based and culturally appropriate perspective.
  • Experience in both case work/management and providing employment support
  • A current unrestricted Drivers Licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
