Life Without Barriers is a leading social purpose, not for profit organisation of 7,000 employees working in more than 440 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people and people with mental illness. We work with people who are homeless and refugees and asylum seekers.
We want to employ people who reflect the diversity of our clients to ensure we can support each client's individual needs and wants. We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.
Life Without Barriers are currently seeking Community Rehabilitation Support Workers to join the Mental Health team based in the Salisbury, Adelaide and Christies Beach offices. Services are available to be delivered over 7 days 8am - 8pm, 7 days per week. The hours of service will reflect the needs of the consumers and therefore some extended hours coverage is expected. Full-time and part time fixed term contracts till 30th of June, 2020 with the possibility of extension.
The Community Rehabilitation Support Workers will work within the Intensive Home Support Services (IHBSS) program. IHBSS is aimed at people aged 16 years and over who have experienced acute episodes of mental illness. In practice, people often have a range of other complex needs as well. Each person is provided with up to three months of intensive support and assertive outreach in their home either after leaving a hospital as a way of ‘stepping down’, or ‘stepping up’ to receiving support as a way to avoid a hospital admission. Referrals are made through community mental health teams.
Working within a recovery framework, Community Rehabilitation Support Workers provide a range of rehabilitation and support to consumers, tailored to promote recovery and maximise individual resilience. You will work with consumers within their own community of friends, family and neighbourhood. You will work closely with clinical case managers and other community partner organisations in order to deliver the best possible comprehensive service to consumers.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
