As our Blood Cancer Support Coordinator you'll be making a significant difference to people in our community, working collaboratively with team members to deliver a tailored service to people living with blood cancer and their families.
You'll have freedom to deliver quality experiences using your judgement and a network of expertise, together with an enabling manager and talented colleagues to support you to give your best.
Snapshot of key responsibilities
- Providing information, practical and emotional support as required
- Conducting hospital and home visits to provide supportive care to patients and carers
- Facilitating transport needs
- Assisting patients/families to navigate the health care system
- Responding to a diverse range of telephone enquiries from patients, carers, family or friends affected by blood cancers
- Responding to email enquiries from the Leukaemia Foundation website
- Liaising and collaborating with health care professionals, government departments and other not-for-profit organisations to promote the Leukaemia Foundation services and activities
- Organising and coordinating support groups/educational meetings for patients/families/carers
- Working collaboratively with team members to deliver a cohesive service

The Foundation cares for patients and their families affected by blood cancer and related blood disorders by providing a range of vital support services free-of-charge, including counselling, information, accommodation, transportation and practical assistance.

Selection Criteria
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Nursing or Allied Health or a counselling background
- A current clean driver's licence and own car is essential to undertake business travel
- Flexibility and mobility to undertake business travel as required to fulfil the requirements of this position
- Ability to qualify and be approved for a Working With Children Check
- Proficient IT and system skills Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel, databases and reporting (Salesforce training will be provided)
Highly desirable
- Post Graduate qualifications in Oncology/Haematology - Nursing, Social Work/Welfare, Behavioural Sciences desirable
- Experience working with not for profit organisations
- Strong relationship skills, interpersonal sensitivity and communication
- A credible ambassador to represent the Foundation, professional and personable with a positive, engaging and resilient approach
- Effective planning, prioritisation and delivery skills to ensure service outcomes through self and others
- Effective administration and co-ordination skills
- Productive teamwork and collaboration
- Ability to adapt, thrive and deliver in a changing and evolving, organisation
