About the opportunity

  • $42.5554 per hour + 25% casual loading + shift loading + super
  • Based in St Kilda East

Our Women’s only Crisis Accommodation is a residential facility with 15 single client rooms, the service provide temporary accommodation (for up to 8 weeks with the possibility of extension), case management, transitional support and other services to assist clients in achieving dignified and sustainable housing outcomes. The program also provides support to women outside the residential facility, including a rooming house located in the St Kilda area.

Special measure applies to this role

Sections 28, 60 and 88 of the EO Act provide for lawful 'Special Measure' provisions, therefore the following has been applied to this role.

What you'll be doing

After Hours Support Workers provides support to residents, maintains the security of the accommodation service and an effective, safe and well-functioning environment. In this role, you will offer careful consideration of our client’s individual and diverse needs whilst encouraging their independence, empowerment, autonomy and dignity.

You will

  • Provide a comprehensive service to residents including crisis counselling, support and advocacy in accordance with case plans.
  • Monitor and manage the dynamics of the facility with the aim of providing an environment which is safe, peaceful, and enjoyable for all.
  • Respond to critical incidents and breaches in facility rules.
  • Participate as a member of the site team in the overall development, evaluation and improvement of the service to enable the provision of effective and efficient service delivery to clients, including attending relevant training and staff meetings and annual performance reviews.
  • Liaise with Housing Initial Assessment Planning team to coordinate client arrivals and conduct a thorough assessment of client support needs.

The position is required to work afterhours, and will be a combination of:

Sleepover Shifts:

  • Stand-up (17:00pm – 23:00pm)
  • Sleepover component (23:00pm – 8:00am)
  • Standup (8:00am – 9:00am)

Day Shifts (Sat – Sun):

  • 8:30am – 17:30pm

What we're looking for

You will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, and/or direct experience in the delivery of crisis and support services.
  • Knowledge of current forms of housing assistance, including the homelessness services system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and a commitment to working with clients with mental health, drug and alcohol issues and challenging behaviours; including associated service networks
  • Ability and commitment to working with site specific client group/s.
  • Provide evidence of a current Victorian driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness.
