Labrador Kindergarten has been an asset of the Labrador community since 1957. It is a not-for-profit kindergarten, with a community volunteer management committee and it encourages community connection.
Labrador Kindergarten has a bush and beach, nature play focus. It is located in a beautiful setting across the road from the Gold Coast Broadwater, in a quaint building with a beautiful garden.
Labrador Kindergarten is an Approved Kindergarten Program Provider and is supported by Lady Gowrie Queensland.
about the role
The role will require you to provide a quality educational program for the children and families in supporting positive outcomes for each individual child.
Labrador Kindergarten provides a program for two groups of children. Each group is on a five-day per fortnight schedule.
The role is part time at 37.5 hours per fortnight.
The core duties of the role include:
- as Co-Director, providing leadership to the organisation and modelling collegiality.
- supporting the volunteer management committee to set the strategic direction of the organisation and perform their governance functions.
- managing the day to day operations in co-operation with the other co-director and the executive management committee as the Approved Provider.
- forming ongoing relationships with families and stakeholders from the kindergarten community.
- ensuring quality, safety and continuous improvement of the play-based early childhood program.
Selection criteria
Knowledge and experience

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Early Childhood education
- Demonstrated ability to provide and document a high quality, play based early childhood program
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and personal growth
- Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline
- Understanding of the National Quality Framework, Early Childhood Education and Care Legislation and the Assessment and Rating Process.
- Experience in a similar leadership role will be highly regarded.

Qualifications

- Approved Early Childhood Teacher qualification (must meet ACECQA and QKFS requirements) / Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)
- Queensland College of Teachers Registration
- Current Suitability Card or Exemption Card for Registered Teachers
- Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma certifications for early childhood
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
The successful applicant must also be willing to undergo a criminal history check (National Police Certificate).
