About the service

Our Nana Maru facility, Nowra is situated on the beautiful Shoalhaven River, close to many popular natural and cultural features of the Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands. It is a 2-hour drive to Sydney. Nana Muru is a day-based mobile Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation program. The service incorporates both day programs and withdrawal support, using a blend of place-based service delivery and mobile outreach.

About the role

The Community Engagement Representative will actively support the integration of the Nana Muru mobile withdrawal support and alcohol and other drugs rehabilitation service in the Shoalhaven region by creating, evaluating and maintaining partnerships with General Practices, Aboriginal Medical Services, Cultural support services and other local and regional health and community service providers. In addition to the above, your additional duties will be

  • Develop, lead and facilitate consumer participation in key aspects of service delivery, cultural practice and engagement with local community to inform the effective implementation of Nana Muru across the region.
  • Regularly attend and actively participate in local and regional networking meetings and committees
  • Design and coordinate events for target groups to increase the profile of Nana Muru in the Shoalhaven region using appropriate and culturally sensitive key messages (e.g. mental health literacy, reduced stigma, anti-discrimination, early help seeking).

This is a part time ongoing role, working 26.6 hours per week, 0.7 FTE.

About you

You are an engaging individual with the ability to connect with the community, stakeholders and our clients. You can work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and utilise the your knowledge and experience to ensure engagement is meaningful and productive. You will also demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in either health, behavioural sciences, social sciences, public health, health promotion, community development or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in delivering community development initiatives, health promotion, and community-based activities relevant to LLW.
  • Demonstrated understanding of consumer participation and advocating for and on behalf of consumers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of people from diverse backgrounds including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and LGBTIQ , communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, implement and report on program activity
  • Strong communication (including written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with the community, establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, clients, carers and key stakeholders and collaborative partners.

The base salary for this role is up to $79,810.64 plus not for profit salary packaging benefits of up to $18,540 per annum.
