We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Disability Support Professionals to provide person centred support to individuals with a range of complex disability and mental health support needs in our Forensic Services Branch. The Role

We have a part-time employment opportunity for a Disability Support Professional providing support to individuals with complex needs that involve psychosocial comorbidities (e.g. a combination of intellectual disabilities and complex mental health issues). This may also include in-home supports. 

The key purpose of the position is to provide person centred support to our service users. Successful applicants will be required to develop good relationships with various key stakeholders, families and other relevant parties in order to achieve quality outcomes. 

Selection Criteria

• Applicants must be able to demonstrate a high level knowledge and experience in providing active support to people with disabilities with high complex needs (including co-morbidity of intellectual disabilities and mental health issues);
• Ability to assist individuals in developing independence and life skills which enable participation in a variety of activities;
• Demonstrated ability to assist individuals in achieving positive outcomes;
• Develop and foster relationships with individuals and their families and working effectively in a team with strong communication skills;
• Ability to work in challenging and crisis situations together with strong management support;
• Ability to use software programs such as MS Word, Outlook and Excel;
• Demonstrated understanding of person centeredness and relevant best practice and disability legislation.
