About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Child Safe Lead to join the Strategy, People and Culture team.

The Child Safe Lead will provide leadership, guidance and support to the organisation and community in relation to the protection and enhancement of the physical, emotional, cultural and social wellbeing of children and young people.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) developing, supporting and advocating for the ongoing implementation of the Council’s Child Safe Plan, policy and procedures; working in partnership across the organisation to manage project implementation; assessing incidents and conducting and coordinating reportable conduct investigations and writing reports; providing education and support to enhance Council’s Child Safe capability and maturity.

This is a full time two year fixed contract role based at our Civic Centre however we can offer a range of flexible work options for the right candidate.

What you will need to thrive

In order to be thrive in this position you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology/Social Work/Education or a related discipline
  • High level knowledge of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme
  • Good knowledge of child welfare/child protection arrangements and relevant legislation
  • Direct experience in working with children and/or young people in complex and sometimes challenging circumstances
  • Experience writing and developing policies, practices and processes at an organisational level
  • Experience working collaboratively across an organisation to successfully implement policies and practices

Remuneration for this role will be ($98,781 - $110,786 p.a depending on experience) plus 10% superannuation.
