ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation (SAKGF) provides the inspiration, information, professional development and support for educational institutions to deliver pleasurable food education, in conjunction with educators, partners and the wider community.

We are seeking a motivated people-orientated Communications Coordinator to utilize their marketing, communications and media skills to help support the expansion of pleasurable food education to children and young people around Australia. Reporting to the Engagement Manager, your role is to:

  • Produce high quality content including edms, new stories, newsletters and printed collateral, which engage, inspire and influence the public and the kitchen garden community
  • Edit and proof documents from across the organization, with a strong eye for detail
  • Work with fundraising and partnership team on content for appeals, campaigns, and partnership activations
  • Develop and pitch stories to traditional and digital media

You will join a friendly, supportive and collaborative group of people dedicated to supporting schools and early childhood services to deliver pleasurable food education to young Australians.

  • Physical location is in Melbourne (Collingwood), Victoria close to public transport.
  • Base salary of $67,500 plus superannuation, plus salary packaging benefits.

ABOUT YOU

We are a small not-for-profit that exists in a changeable environment and is open to opportunity and change. You will need to be willing to handle a rapidly adapting workplace, with a responsive and flexible attitude.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in marketing, communications and/or media
  • Expert knowledge of the current communications and marketing environment
  • Experience in producing communications and/or marketing content in the not-for-profit sector, particularly story gathering for multiple uses
  • Experience and a very high attention to detail in editing and proofreading a variety of documents
  • Experience in developing media releases and pitches, and dealing with print and digital media as well as public relations firms
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and juggle competing priorities while acting as an internal service provider in a small, close-knit team
  • Highly developed interpersonal and collaborative skills with a proven ability to build relationships through mutual respect and understanding
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to work on multiple tasks with competing priorities simultaneously and autonomously
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office suite, Office 365, CRM packages (ideally Salesforce/Marketing Cloud), and the Adobe Suite (including InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Love of fresh, seasonal, delicious food essential.

Desirable extra knowledge to help support your role:

  • Film shooting and editing knowledge and/or experience.

The position may from time to time require intra-state and interstate travel. A driver’s license is required, own vehicle preferred. The applicant must be able to legally work in Australia.
