Position Overview

The Housing Supply portfolio has a remit to deliver new housing projects as well as manage and maintain existing assets and building contracts. Launch Housing manages more than 1,700 accommodation units comprising owned assets and assets managed on behalf of third parties such as transitional housing, crisis accommodation, head leased properties and Education First Youth Foyers.

The Group Manager, Property Assets role is a key management and leadership role that is responsible for the management and maintenance activities for Launch Housing’s property assets. Managing a team of asset management professionals and reporting to the General Manager - Housing Supply, this role will work with various areas of the organisation to ensure effective management of property assets.

Position Responsibilities

The Group Manager, Property Assets role exists as a key management and leadership role to ensure the effective management and maintenance activities for Launch Housing’s property assets with consideration to strategic plans and the pro social justice culture of the workforce.

The general responsibilities for this role will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Ensure the effective management of property assets through the implementation of the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) with consideration to the overall budget management for the Property Assets team
  • Monitor the life cycle performance of the asset portfolio management including recommendations for disposal, refurbishment and redevelopment of assets, and strategic recommendations about maintenance activities
  • Coordinate the handover of new buildings from the Development team to the Property Assets team
  • Day-to-day management of team members whilst promoting continuous improvement through training, development opportunities and performance reviews
  • The identification, documentation and tracking of all associated risks in a timely manner with risk mitigation strategies implemented as required

Position Requirements

To be successful you must possess the following:

  • Qualifications in asset / facilities management (Bachelor preferred) and / or significant relevant demonstrated experience in these fields
  • Demonstrable experience in asset management including oversight of maintenance activities, contract administration, compliance, project management and lease negotiation
  • Management of a portfolio of residential assets (e.g. social/affordable housing, specialist disability accommodation, aged care or retirement living) is preferred but not essential
  • Extensive experience establishing and maintaining key stakeholder and contractor partnerships together with strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Alignment and commitment to the values of Launch Housing and its mission to end homelessness
