Many Rivers Regional Housing Management Services Aboriginal Corporation (MRRH) is an important not-for-profit provider of Aboriginal community housing management services in northern NSW supporting over 500 properties and tenants. The Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) placed MRRH under special administration on 11 February 2019 to initiate and ensure corporate reform. That reform will include a new governance framework and the appointment of a new Board of Directors.
MRRH initially seeks to appoint part-time advisory group members for the period of the special administration. On the completion of the special administration, the advisory group members will be invited to form the new Board as Non-Executive Directors to strengthen the leadership, governance and development of the organisation. Advisory group appointments will be made in April 2019 and the Board appointed at the end of the special administration in May 2019.
Expressions of interest are invited from experienced executives motivated to contribute and participate in the strategy, leadership and commercial oversight of MRRH in its important role in securing the living standards and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the region.
Prior board experience is preferred and persons with experience and/or interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community services are encouraged to apply. Applications from individuals with property management, finance, legal, business or other professional backgrounds will be highly regarded. Advisory group members will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of the role of the board, executive and stakeholder partners in the strategic and commercial oversight of an organisation.
Corporation directorships are unpaid, with expenses provided.
