Tell me more?

Rather than a long list, let's hear from the team. Here’s 5 Questions we asked your future leader and your 3 peers to give you a genuine sense of the role.

Your Manager - What makes someone successful in this role?

  1. A genuine desire to make a positive difference to the lives of the children, young people and families in our services, through growth and connection.
  2. A passion for planning, actions that demonstrate forward thinking and the ability to anticipate the many scenarios that may arise throughout a day.
  3. Compelling communication, an ability to exchange and share information accurately and effectively with key stakeholders both throughout the organisation and externally to build great relationships and performance.
  4. Great professional judgement to make great decisions, and a demonstrated ability to apply relevant training, knowledge and experience to direct courses of action.

How would you describe your leadership style?

I believe leadership should focus heavily on coaching for outcomes. I strive to create a shared understanding of goals with my team and work to support the team in achieving those goals. I encourage my team to ask critical questions of everyone around them, including their peers, our various practitioners and the extended team they work with. I strive to encourage safety in everything we do, thinking differently, innovative practice and active contribution.

What is your vision for your Operations Managers?

I want our Operations Managers to create a supportive and psychologically safe environment and facilitate the development of Service Managers and their teams through supporting the execution of shared goals. I also want our Operations Managers to have direct coaching conversations to support an ongoing culture of performance and accountability. We need Operations Managers who are resilient and lead with confidence and clarity, and make consistent, empathetic but commercial decisions, so that we can continue to deliver on Jabiru’s Vision and Values now and into the future.

What is a job well done to you?

When someone can easily show how they have contributed to the vision and values of the organisation. When the team of leaders that you work with are also themselves skilled as coaches and provide observations and feedback to their teams.
