NDIS Mental Health Support Workers

Our Mental Health & Wellbeing Team are seeking NDIS Mental Health Support Workers to assist our clients in the Eastern Suburbs and North Shore. Our NDIS Support Workers work within a recovery framework that focuses on assisting participants with developing and retaining social skills to maximise independence, quality of life and community participation. The role will mainly support participants in their own home and will include assistance with all aspects of daily living as identified in their NDIS goals.

As specified in individual NDIS goals participants may require assistance in the following areas:

  • Shopping
  • Housework
  • Socialisation
  • Meal Preparation/Assistance
  • Laundry
  • Attending medical or other appointments as required
  • Prompting clients with personal care issues

We have part time and casuals roles available. Please specify your preference in your Cover Letter.

Applicants seeking part time roles will be required to do split shifts. For the benefit of our clients we are seeking a commitment of at least 20 hours per week over 4 to 5 days.

These are community-based positions, so the successful candidate will be required to travel to people’s homes and provide one-on-one assistance so you must have the ability and willingness to work in a home environment.

Desired Skills and Experience

Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications in Mental Health or a related field, Certificate IV in Mental Health would be well regarded
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Current Driver’s Licence and car
  • Knowledge of person-centred approach to client care
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act
  • Able to handle sensitive issues and resolve conflicts with tact and discretion.
  • Knowledge, sensitivity and an understanding of Jewish values, heritage and culture
