The roles

We have several full-time and part-time opportunities for Speech Pathologists to join our clinics located in Bayswater, Bundoora, or Cardinia (Pakenham).

As a Speech Pathologists at Irabina, you will work within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a trans-disciplinary approach to intervention. You will have ongoing support, guidance and training from our clinical governance and research team members.

You will be committed to individuals and families, providing evidence-based intervention and working collaboratively with other Allied Health professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Administer, score, and interpret relevant assessments.
  • Contribute to the differential diagnostic process for ASD and other disorders.
  • Provide both written and verbal stakeholder feedback.
  • Work with individuals and families to set SMART goals (with regular review/feedback)
  • Provide culturally and developmentally appropriate intervention.
  • Contribute to and support group interventions.
  • Ensure high standards are maintained with reports, clinical case notes and all other client-related documentation.
  • Provide education/information sessions for families, team members and the client’s wider community.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentoring sessions to grade 1 staff & speech pathology students.
  • Participate in discipline-specific programs.
  • Attend and contribute to regular discipline-specific meetings and briefings.
  • Contribute to planning and evaluation of services.
  • Regular participation in Quality Improvement activities

About you

You have a love and understanding of working with autistic children, young people with autism and their parents and carers. Plus, the following:

  • Speech Pathologist Qualification
  • Current membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Experience in Speech Therapy service provision
  • Experience across a range of settings and age groups, and client profiles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving experience
  • Commitment to providing services to people from diverse language/cultural backgrounds.
  • Medicare provider number eligibility
  • Current drivers’ licence (and reliable vehicle)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current Police Check (or International Police Check when applicable)
  • NDIS Workers check

Ideally, you have:

  • Knowledge and experience working with NDIS participants.
  • Knowledge and experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum and their support network.
  • Specialist knowledge in a specific area of clinical practice.
  • Previous experience or willingness to use telehealth platforms.
  • Experience working high-tech AAC.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and mentoring sessions to grade 1 staff & speech pathology students.

Training in one or more of the following:

  • PECS
  • DIR/Floortime model
  • Hanen
  • Learn to Play
  • Traffic Jam in my brain
