This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Counsellor, who is passionate about providing high quality relationship counselling services to individuals, couples, families, and children.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Relationship Counsellor for our Relationship Services Centre on the Central Coast. The Relationship Services Centre offers a variety of services to our clients including counselling for families, couples, individuals and children, and group relationship support programs.

This role is responsible for conducting high-quality relationship counselling sessions with clients (individuals, couples, family and child counselling) with an emphasis on the impact of the presenting issues on the family and/or relationship, along with facilitating groups, seminars, and workshops for clients and case planning and management processes with clients and stakeholders internally and externally. This role will also conduct child consultations in accordance with clinical procedure (where required and appropriately qualified).

Along with relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling, community services or related discipline, we are looking for strong capabilities in clinical skills and experience, reflective practice, ethics, and good foundational skills in the use of technology - including a client management system and Zoom. Prior experience working with people in the LGBTIQIA+ community is desirable and will be highly regarded.

This is a permanent part time position, 27 hours per week, and the days and hours of work are negotiable. However, some evening work will be required.

This position will be required to work from our Gosford and Tuggerah offices, located on the Central Coast NSW. As this position is required to provide in person services and work within an office you are required to be fully vaccinated and stay up to date with vaccines to comply with Interrelates vaccination policy.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant Qualifications:
    • A bachelor degree in psychology, social work or related discipline; or, a Graduate Diploma in counselling, community service or equivalent in addition to a Bachelor degree that is not a related discipline. Interrelate will also consider applicants that have half a degree in psychology or social work; or a degree that has a major in one of these areas, in this case the contract of employment will require that they complete the degree within an agreed time period.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in:
    • delivering counselling services to one or more of the following - individuals, couples, families and children
    • case work with clients, implementing and supporting case plans
    • facilitating groups, seminars, and workshops
    • solutions focused and interpersonal communication skills
    • report writing, case notes, data collection, and data entry
    • working with online systems and technology, such as a CRM (Client Relationship Management) System and Zoom.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:
    • the process and purpose of child inclusive practice
    • the issues facing diverse communities, including ATSI, CALD, and remote communities
    • the impact of family separation and breakdown on children, and having skills in managing high parental conflict whilst upholding the best interests of children
    • child development, child protection, mandatory reporting, suicide prevention/intervention, and family violence issues
    • trauma informed principles
    • community services, especially those relating to families experiencing relationship difficulties
    • the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act, and other relevant legislation
    • family law processes and terminology (for those staff providing child consult services)
  • (Desirable) Prior experience working with people in the LGBTIQIA+ community
