About Us

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and deliver of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.

The Oral Health Service with IUIH provides a range of oral health care services from IUIH and Member Service clinics as well as from a full equipped mobile van.

About the Role

As a Dentist within our MATSICHS team you will providing high quality dental, education and training services to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. A key aspect of this role is improving the Oral Health outcomes in Our Community.

  • Part time hours (Thursday and Friday) available within the MATSICHS Clinics
  • Performing comprehensive patient diagnoses, assessments and treatments.
  • Ensure that dental care is in line with national ethical, legal and standards of Dental care
  • Utilise and enhance referral pathways to specialist and allied health services for clients as required
  • Assist in development and implementation of oral health promotion and awareness activities
  • Assist with the collection, analysis and reporting of dental patient statistics
  • Providing quality education and instruction on diet and other aspects of dental care.

About You:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of integrated oral health services
  • Previous experience using patient information systems
  • Ability to work in a team and display initiative, self-motivation, time management and solution focused skills.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written skills with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication skills, confidentiality and record keeping

Essential:

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificate
  • Tertiary qualification in Dentistry from a recognised institution
  • Professional medical indemnity insurance
  • Must have at least Dose 1 of the Covid-19 vaccine prior to commencement

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
