ISS Australia is seeking a part-time paralegal to support its community legal centre specialising in international parental child abduction law and the 1980 Hague Convention. Our office is in Pyrmont, Sydney and we are seeking a proactive applicant who can work in the office and remotely. Supervision and training will be provided, and we are seeking someone who is available to work 0.6 FTE (22.8 hours) 3 days per week (days negotiable). Your salary will be based on the national Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHCADS) Award at $77,578 pro rata plus superannuation and fringe benefits available to charities.

You will report to the Managing Lawyer, and Senior Lawyer as directed. We are looking for someone who has an interest in family law and a desire to assist vulnerable clients.

Duties:

• To assist with client intake.
• Support lawyers conduct ongoing casework.
• Drafting legal documents.

• Legal research.
• Assist with administrative tasks.

Requirements:

• Prior work in legal office environment preferable.
• Able to work proactively and independently.

• Excellent communication skills, particularly excellent written communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft programs.
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice.
