The Organisation

The Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG) is a Religious Institute of Catholic women who advance the reign of God by engaging in the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. As women of mercy inspired by the gospel and their foundress, Catherine McAuley, their mission is to live hospitality, compassion and justice. Their ministries include health, aged care, education, social welfare, advocacy and environmental sustainability.

The Role

The main purpose of this role is to contribute to and support the day to day operations of the Mercy Hub through administrative assistance in all areas of service, hospitality, communications and media. The Mercy Hub is a gathering place for Sisters, Mercy Ministry groups, ISMAPNG Leadership groups, Mercy colleagues and related groups, particularly those in the local neighbourhood with whom we can offer hospitality, share resources and support and in this position, you will work closely with all parties.

The Requirements

As the Administration Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the Reception area and creating a welcoming environment, providing an array of administrative support to the manager, assist with the set up of various gatherings which include catering, setting up of audio visual equipment and assisting with functions.

Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining a key register for all keys, preparing of booking forms, reconcile petty cash and assist with other administrative duties as directed.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • A great ability to work to deadlines
  • Self motivation, initiative and enthusiasm and an ability to be innovative to add value to the overall mission of the Mercy Hub
  • Demonstrated values and behaviours that support ISMAPNG
  • The ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office along with the capability of setting up audio visual equipment

Located in North Carlton, this position is a permanent part-time position, offering 25 hours per week over 5 days and is available for an immediate start.
