The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading community health service as a Mental Health Clinician in the Mental Health Head to Help Team, Inner East. This is a part-time, permanent position (4 days a week).
The Mental Health Clinician will deliver individual and group-based psychological interventions to consumers. The Mental Health Clinician will work as a part of the multidisciplinary team to assess and deliver evidence-based treatment to consumers, including to people whose mental health has been impacted by COVID-19. This includes undertaking mental health assessments, developing goals and treatment plans, providing psychological interventions and working with parents/carers/family members and other professionals in a shared care approach. Services may be delivered in person or via telehealth.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake clinical assessment of consumers which includes mental health, AOD, psychosocial, functional and family domains
- Work collaboratively with consumers, family/carers and other health professionals to develop and implement Collaborative Care Plans
- Undertake initial and ongoing risk assessments of clients and develop risk management plans
- Provide evidence-based psychological interventions and support to consumers
- Liaise with referrers and GPs in relation to reviewing consumer progress and ensure all consumers have a regular clinical review
- Develop and co-facilitate group-based therapeutic interventions
- Provide services in both face-to-face and telehealth modalities
- Participate in shared care with internal and external services, including attendance at care team meetings, case coordination and clinical reviews
- Work within the scope of practice defined for the role and as agreed with line manager
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Key attributes of the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to:
- An empathic, creative and professional therapeutic style
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of mental health assessment, case formulation and treatment
- Experience and/or training in a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions (such as CBT, ACT, mindfulness, solution-focussed therapy)
- Genuine interest in working with clients with a range of mental health and psychosocial concerns, including those with co-occurring conditions
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, make decisions, organise workload, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work creatively and safely with consumers from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTIQ, CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems (such as TrakCare, and Fixus - if these programs are not familiar, assistance will be provided in learning these systems by AccessHC during the induction phase) and in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology and current registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist (provisional psychologist with sufficient experience may be considered) or
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work and accreditation with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) as a Mental Health Social Worker, or eligibility and plans to obtain accreditation as a Mental Health Social Worker within the first twelve months of employment.
