Hunterlink EAP is currently recruiting for an experienced Counsellor to join our professional team based in Newcastle, NSW.

Hunterlink EAP is a leading industry specific 24/7 Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) that has been working in the mental health and wellbeing arena for more than ten years. At Hunterlink we work with our clients and companies to provide a level of service unique to the industry with our dedicated team that genuinely cares for to building a team of creative and enthusiastic people committed to success.

You will be working as part of an in-house team that offers our EAP clients phone, video and face-to-face counselling sessions. The ideal candidate will provide counselling to assist individuals with the resources required to meet their short and long-term personal well-being goals as well as monitoring client progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed.

This position is suited to an individual who can work 12noon to 8pm and after-hours shift. Full time and/or part time position is available.

Important:

  • Telephone counselling applies to approx. 90% of the client case load
  • Hunterlink is a 24/7 EAP provider and after hours phone counselling is an expectation of this position.
  • Case management in an EAP environment can often involve shortened sessions, shortened exit plans and capped sessions
  • This type of case management applies to dynamic, solution-focused workers who have experienced in brief intervention and crisis counselling.

For this role you will need:

  • A Diploma in Counselling and/or a Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
  • At least three years experience as a counsellor, preferably in an EAP setting.
  • Experience in providing Critical Incident debriefing to clients.
  • Eligibility for registration with PACFA, ACA, AASW or relevant professional bodies
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills
  • Well developed written-communication skills with the ability to provide high quality professional case notes
  • Ability to leverage internal and external resources as part of a client treatment plan
  • The ability to work as part of an after hours roster.
  • Current Driver’s license, police check and working with children check

Remuneration will be under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award with salary relevant to experience and hours worked.
