The Electric Vehicle Regional Organiser is the manager of the on-ground work for our Electric Vehicle Ute Roadshow, including end-to-end event logistics, volunteer management, and stakeholder engagement.
Importantly, you're also the face of our regional transport campaign, appearing in social and mainstream media; and generating, collecting and sharing stories from the communities you’re working with.
For the first three months, the role is ideally based in the Ballarat region or nearby, or in Melbourne with frequent travel to Ballarat. For the second three months, you'll get the opportunity to drive one of the first EV utes in Australia around regional Victoria and New South Wales (a significant amount of travel will take place over this time).
The Electric Ute Roadshow will demonstrate the benefits of electric utes to everyday regional Australians by driving an electric ute to strategic rural and regional areas, hosting community events to engage the general public; critically, tradies, farmers, and campers.
We will partner with local groups to deliver EV events that showcase the benefits of EVs including utes, such as vehicle-to-load (using an EV as a portable battery), charging through rooftop solar, and cost of living benefits of EVs vs petrol cars. Events will take place from Ballarat to Brisbane.
Our team will support the roadshow by harnessing the stories from both the roadshow and each local event to create local and national media, as well as an online blog.
You will be reporting to the Melbourne-based Clean Transport Campaigner. Prior knowledge of or experience in energy, climate, or transport policy is a plus but is not a requirement. This role will require you to have a valid Australian Drivers License.
Solar Citizens’ staff, volunteers and supporters campaign for a fast and fair transition to 100% clean, renewable energy and electric transport. Our vision is for an Australia powered entirely by renewable energy where everyone has access to clean technology—like solar, storage and electric transport—to bring down bills and slash pollution.
We work to tell a compelling story that demonstrates how electrifying our economy and rolling out renewable energy backed by storage is a win-win for our hip pocket and the environment. By changing the national story and building power in the suburbs, regions and cities, we bring together a broad base of Australian households and businesses to take collective action.
This role is 3-days per week (0.6 FTE) for 6 months, with a salary of $70,000 pro rata. There is a possibility of increasing hours if further funding is secured.
Solar Citizens staff receive four weeks’ leave plus one week of end-of-year closure and 14 days of sick leave (pro rata).
Solar Citizens embraces diversity and equality in a serious way. We are committed to building a team with a variety of backgrounds, skills and views. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. Creating a culture of equality isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also the smart thing. We are an equal opportunity employer and we encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply.
Solar Citizens acknowledges the long-standing and continuing leadership of First Nations peoples in caring for and protecting country and fighting for a safe climate.
