The Haymarket Foundation exists to provide opportunities to people who have been marginalised by society.  We understand that the people we work with come from a background of complex trauma, and we use this understanding to advocate and deliver multidisciplinary services that are inclusive, safe, and offer freedom of choice.

We are currently seeking an energetic, flexible, enthusiastic individual to join our team as a community service worker (night shift) within our residential Program, which supports the stabilisation of a client’s homelessness, health and AOD support needs. 

Position Information

The position is a permanent part-time, night shift (Fri - Mon). The position reports to the Manager of Homelessness and will work closely with other staff members. The program is located in Chippendale and has a salary and conditions as per Grade 3 of the SCHCADS Award.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  • A minimal qualification (Certificate 4) in community services or related field.
  • An understanding and knowledge of issues faced by people with complex unaddressed trauma, homelessness and who identify as having a substance use disorder.
  • Demonstrated communication skills specifically in client rapport building and systematic advocacy.
  • Proven ability to engage with clients and to set clear professional boundaries.
  • Data entry experience/competent user of Microsoft Office suite.
  • National criminal record check.
  • Disclosure of any restrictions that impact upon your role as a practitioner.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working with complex clients in a residential setting.
  • A working understanding of trauma informed care and other therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience working with clients with co-mobility presentations.
  • Competent level of information seeking skills to support best practice.
