House with No Steps (HWNS) is a leading provider of quality residential, employment and ancillary services to people with disabilities, both physical and intellectual, throughout NSW, ACT and Queensland.
At HWNS we believe in empowering people to experience a full and valued life to the best of their ability. We work as a team with our customers, their families and carers to visualise and reach for the individuals’ dreams and goals that are meaningful to them. In enabling this, our teams provide mentoring, advice, inspiration and facilitation for people to achieve their unique and positive future.
Within the South Queensland area HWNS provides a range of accommodation services, assisting children who have varying support needs, from moderate to complex. As Support Worker, you will be working with customers who have intellectual disabilities, including dual diagnosis, utilising person centred active support. Shift hours will be allocated across a rotating 7 day roster, including sleep overs.
As part of our recruitment process we aim to match our customers with support workers based on on shared interests. We believe it makes a difference in the quality of support provided when a support worker can be matched to customers based on compatibility of interests and passions that allows for a strong working relationship to occur and to make the experience positive for both parties.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
Ideally the successful applicant will also hold, be studying or committed to undertaking a qualification in the Community Services Sector. This role would suit applicants with an interest/experience in complex disability work within a residential setting.
