House with No Steps (HWNS) is a leading provider of quality residential, employment and ancillary services to people with disabilities, both physical and intellectual, throughout QLD, ACT, VIC and NSW.
HWNS is currently seeking:
- Experienced Support Workers for part-time positions to work in our supported living service in Logan Village, which supports several adults with a disability, each living in their own unit. This service offers high physical, medical support to these individuals.
- Casual and part-time Support workers for our services across the Gold Coast. Previous experience will be looked upon favourably, however, the role of support worker draws upon many other skills and abilities that enable our customers to live the best life possible.
- Applicants looking to start their career in the Community Services Sector by completing a Traineeship with us at HWNS, where you will gain practical experiences within the industry while completing your Certificate III in Individual Support.
HWNS also operates a range of services and supports to people with a disability. As such, there are also opportunities to work within of range of support settings including in community hubs and in people’s homes.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to establish a professional working relationship with customers and their networks that is respectful, supportive and empowering
- Demonstrated ability to perform all physical requirements of the position. This could include but not limited to operating a hoist, twisting, bending, pushing and lifting
- Ability and willingness to work in a diverse range of settings including but not limited to – a person’s home or place of residence, other services, community groups and other community settings
- Possess well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the conflict resolution, negotiation, problem solving, and the ability to communicate effectively as a member of a team
- General computer skills (e.g. use of Microsoft suite)
- Possession of a current Australian driver’s license
- Possession of a current Apply First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain certificate
- Satisfactory criminal history check
- Satisfactory working with children (blue card) check as required
- Equivalent to VET Certificate III in relevant studies or equivalent experience or a willingness and capacity to undertake Certificate III studies
