Grameen Foundation (Australia) Limited is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to empower women in underprivileged communities. Through our work, we seek to establish Australia’s first microfinance social business, providing vulnerable women with the tools and resources necessary to foster entrepreneurship and alleviate poverty.
To achieve our vision, we are seeking a suitable candidate to serve as the Director Grameen Programme within our organisation. This is a chief executive role, being offered on a full-time basis.
As the Director Grameen Programme, your duties will include:
- Assuming primary responsibility for the management of Grameen Australia and the overall strategic direction of the organisation and its projects.
- Authorising material, human and financial resources to implement organisational policies and programs.
- Implementation of microenterprise development programs in Australia, specifically applying the Grameen Guidelines to establish microfinance programs.
- Recruit, train and advise senior staff to offer women's microenterprise development programs.
- Build capacity in establishing Grameen style microfinance programs in different locations.
- Monitor and evaluate progress, as per the memorandum of understanding between Grameen Australia and Grameen Trust in Bangladesh and provide reports to Grameen Trust.
- Connecting key functional teams within Grameen Australia with counterparts in Grameen America and elsewhere to build key functions using the Grameen approach in Australia.
- Ensuring the organisation operates in compliance with all the relevant laws, regulations, rules, and memorandum of understanding.
Further, candidates will be expected to have:
- Direct experience in successful implementation of microenterprise programs in an urban development environment.
- A detailed understanding of Grameen Guidelines and philosophies in creating peer group microfinance models.
- Comprehensive knowledge of and expertise in inclusive finance practices and processes.
- A commitment to working with women on low incomes to realise economic mobility and independence.
- Experience in occupying a high-level chief executive position in a comparable organisation.
