Who are we?
Grameen Australia is a not-for-profit microfinance social business which provides access to financial support to women on low incomes to start or build their small businesses. Our business is based on the Grameen Model which has been successful throughout innovative countries and the United States and is supported by the Australian Government.
What’s your purpose?
Reporting to the CEO, the Business Analyst plays a vital role in understanding cross-business functions. It will liaise and work with the Head of Fundraising, Head of Finance and the Director Grameen Project to ensure that consistent information is used across the organisation. This role will assist with grant writing and submissions and analysing and interpreting complex business data and processes to support the business in the attainment of its strategic goals and objectives and enhance overall business performance.
You will work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, identify opportunities for improvement and develop innovative solutions. You will provide support to the Centre Managers in respect to data entering and managing member information. You will also enhance procedural instructions for the various processing activities undertaken by the field.
You will work with the Finance team to provide any necessary reporting requirements and creating smooth information processes. There will be data entry requirements into various systems for our stakeholders, government DEX reporting and reporting to Grameen Trust in Bangladesh.
What will you be doing, in summary?
Business process/procedures
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including business process models, use cases and functional specifications
- Streamlining and improving processes for capturing member data
- Providing written guidelines and procedures to standardise operating practices
- Streamlining and continually improving reporting processes
- Understand the business and the connectivity to Grameen Trust and Guidelines
- Be aware of regulatory and legislative restrictions for the business and data, KYC and privacy laws, storing of information etc
Analysis and reporting
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis to evaluate proposed projects and initiatives where required
- Analyse and interpret data to generate meaningful insights and actionable recommendations
- Analyse member data noting trends and issues
- Provide advice on improvement
- Provide detailed reports to the various stakeholders in the business needing data analysis and reporting
- Provide timely and accurate reporting to meet our regulatory requirements and support the Head of Finance and the CEO in preparation of reports to the Board and Government bodies
- Analyse customer satisfaction reports and highlight trends and improvements required
- Provide information on project updates eg DSS, DJSIR and for investors eg PRF
Data entry
- Assist with the data entry of the DEX requirements
- Support centre managers with member data and input and managing the databases
- Follow up with centre managers on any late submission of member data, activity data etc
Projects
- Assist in writing grant proposals and submissions for funding and/or sponsorship
- Facilitate meetings and workshops to elicit requirements, resolve conflicts and drive consensus amongst stakeholders
- Collaborate with other team members to support various projects and initiatives as needed.
- Monitor and track progress, identifying potential issues and risks and proactively proposing solutions
- Provide support and guidance to project teams throughout the development and implementation cycles
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies relevant to business analysis

What skills and abilities will you bring us?
- Proven experience as a Business or Process Analyst or similar role, preferably with not for profit or bank or financial provider
- Baceholors degree in Business administration, Computer science or related field
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong analytical mindset and skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of information
- Proficient in data analysis and visualisation tools
- Strong understanding of business process modelling techniques
- Deep understanding of business operations
- The ability to build trusted relationships and work cross-functionally
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise
- High degree of attention to detail and strong ability to prioritise workloads
- The ability to be proactive and use your initiative
- Passion for empowering others to reach their potential
- Strong experience in the use of Microsoft products, such as email, work, excel and powerpoint. Strong presentations skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism
- Experience working at Exec level in a small business or not-for-profit would be advantageous
Additional information:
This role provides the opportunity for hybrid working conditions, some from home and the office in Footscray. The hours of work may be negotiated.
