Events and Partnerships Officer

Go Gentle Australia

WHO WE ARE

Go Gentle Australia is a national charity. We’ve played a critical role in the introduction of voluntary assisted dying laws in all six Australian states. These landmark reforms mean people dying of a terminal illness who are suffering unbearably can request help from their doctor to end their life.

Voluntary assisted dying hands the power back to the dying person, providing choice, comfort and relief to them and their loved ones. Now the systems are up and running in five different states, with NSW to follow this year, you’ll be joining the Go Gentle team at a pivotal time to help us ensure that all dying Australians have choice at the end of life.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a part-time Events and Partnerships Officer (3-4 days a week) to join our small but mighty team. You will be at the forefront of supporting a new and ground-breaking clinical practice that is transforming end-of-life care in Australia.

Although voluntary assisted dying will soon be legal in most of Australia, passing the laws is not enough; we must now make sure the systems work and Australians know their rights.

Your main duties will be to:

  • Support operations and logistics for our inaugural Voluntary Assisted Dying Conference, scheduled for September 2023
  • Manage attendees and ensure information, directions and promotional materials are shared in a timely manner
  • Act as a point of contact for attendees with questions about the conference
  • Maintain a database and track relationships with our key stakeholders by sending information, organising meetings, keeping track of any changes of personnel and logging contacts in our CRM
  • Support the team to participate in the annual Dying to Know Day event schedule
  • Support with logistics and contracts for our mid-year office move to a new space
  • Support the CEO with the preparation and collation of board reports
  • Provide general administrative support for travel, meeting logistics and expenses

Ideally, you’ll have the following skills and experience

  • Previous experience in an administrative or events role will be highly regarded
  • Good written, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly organised, efficient and a great attention to detail
  • Able to implement your own management systems for keeping track of tasks
  • Good IT competency including Google Drive, Microsoft Office and CRM systems (we use NationBuilder). Basic knowledge of Canva, social media management and any design or web design experience will be highly regarded
  • A sensitivity, maturity and understanding of the issue as the role can involve challenging conversations about death and dying
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines

WHO YOU ARE

Whether you’re at the start of your career, returning to work after a break or moving sectors - we want to hear from you if you believe in end-of-life choice and are an organisational superstar. You must be:

  • Highly organised and proud to be the type of person who ‘makes it happen’
  • Find satisfaction in being efficient and helping an office run smoothly
  • Proactive, with the ability to thrive in a small organisation
  • Creative, with a problem-solving attitude

WHAT CAN WE OFFER YOU?

  • A salary package between $60,000 - 70,000, depending on working hours and dependent on experience, plus superannuation
  • 4 weeks annual leave plus an additional two-week shutdown over the December-January break
  • $1000 annual professional development budget
  • Flexible working arrangements, including the option to work some days from home
  • Annual, benchmarked salary reviews
