RESPONSIBILITES

The Retails Officer reports to the Membership Services Manager and is:

  • an integral member of the support team of GGV
  • is able to work flexibly with a variety of people in a dynamic environment
  • Works to deliver excellent service to all face to face and online visitors to our Guide Shop

Customer and Retail Management

  • Manage all aspects of the Retail Shop for Girl Guides Victoria.
  • Ensure that the Retail Shop is presentable at all times.
  • Update the online shop with new products and price changes
  • Reconcile transactions at the end of each working day.
  • Manage the Mobile Shop activities which could involve out of normal business hours working.
  • Meet or exceed the targets that are set for sales and purchases.
  • Report to the Membership Services Manager on the performance of the Retail Shop on a monthly basis
  • Prepare mail, email and web orders and send these out to customers.
  • Provide assistance and advice to customers in person, via telephone and email.
  • Establish and maintain systems that ensure customers receive excellent service.

Merchandise

  • Develop new stock lines for the Shop that will benefit all members.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers.
  • Establish an annual calendar for ordering stock.
  • Arrange quotes for merchandise.
  • Raise purchase orders for merchandise.
  • Check and receive in merchandise.
  • Manage stock levels of all items.
  • Create appropriate displays in the Retails Shop and ensure that all stock is displayed well at all times.
  • Manage the annual stock take.
  • Perform quarterly stock takes on all uniform items

Qualifications

  • Qualifications and/or extensive previous experience in a related field

Skills

  • Exceptional communication skills including written, verbal and non-verbal.
  • Skilled in using Office and comfortable using database/CRM tools.
  • Develop a good understanding of the Shop Retail System, Shopify, Vend, and iMis and keep up-to-date on all software applications used in the Retail Shop.
  • Adaptable, flexible and diplomatic with a degree of comfort to change in projects and priorities.
  • Excellent time management skills, can work independently, managing multiple projects.
  • Commitment and an understanding of how Guiding contributes to the development of girls and women.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to successfully liaise and negotiate at all levels with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Prior experience in the for purpose or youth sector is desirable, but not essential
